Maybank nine months net profit surges 23% to RM5.39 billion |

For the third quarter ended 30 September 2017, Maybank Group's net profit surged 23.0% to RM5.39 billion compared to a year earlier, benefitting from the improving economic climate across the region. Profit before tax (PBT) was boosted by 20.1% from a year earlier due to higher net fund-based income, as well as a 25.2% decline in net impairment losses.
Gross loans saw a steady expansion, rising 5.3% year-on-year (Y-o-Y) for the nine months to RM485.9 billion. The Group also recorded a 2.7% increase in deposits, led mainly by Malaysian and Indonesian operations which grew 7.5% and 3% respectively.
In Singapore, we saw:
- PBT surged 32.4% to S$234.3 million in the nine months to September 2017, from S$176.92 million a year earlier
- Net income rose 26.3%, boosted by a solid increase in net fund based income and net fee based income of 32.1% and 15.7% respectively
- Loans grew by 4.6%

Maybank and MINDS jointly formed a 200-strong contingent at the Purple Parade on 28 October, an event to celebrate abilities and support inclusion of persons with special needs. This is the third year that Maybank partnered with MINDS for this event.
For the first time ever, Maybank volunteers also worked together with students from MINDS Fernvale Gardens School to put up a dance performance, to showcase our close partnership and spirit of inclusion. The props carried by the contingent were also made by Maybank volunteers together with some students at an Art and Craft session.

| Halloween Night Walk |

On 27 Oct, Maybank organised a Halloween Charity Night Walk, to bring the extended Maybank family and corporate customers together to walk for a good cause. Participants enjoyed a stroll around the Marina Bay area, before returning to the Padang for a movie under the stars and family carnival. Through this event, Maybank raised over $35,000 for Community Chest to support programmes which serve the less fortunate.
