We will be performing a MasterCard system upgrade related to the processing of Maybank Platinum Debit Cards. This upgrade may affect Platinum Debit Card(s) saved on merchant’s applications or websites, as well as transactions made using these saved card details.

What types of transactions may be affected?
Some Platinum Debit Card(s) previously saved on merchants’ applications or websites may be affected after the system upgrade.
Transactions made using saved card details, including recurring payments, may be declined.
Examples of affected merchant platforms include (but are not limited to):
- Online shopping platforms
- Food delivery applications
- Ride-hailing applications
- Subscription services
- Streaming services
- Utility or telco bill payments
- One-click checkout services
What should I do if my card is no longer saved on a merchant’s application or website?
If your saved card details have been affected, please re-add your Platinum Debit Card(s) on the merchant’s application or website.
You may also need to re-authenticate your card by authorising a transaction, depending on the merchant.
What should I do if my card is still saved but the transaction fails?
If you experience a failed transaction, please:
- Remove your Platinum Debit Card(s) from the merchant’s application or website
- Re-add your card details
You may also need to:
- Re-authenticate your card by authorising a transaction, or
- Retry the failed transaction manually
This may vary depending on the merchant.
Will my recurring payments be affected?
Some recurring payments using saved card details may be affected.
If a recurring payment fails, please:
- Remove and re-add your Platinum Debit Card on the merchant’s platform
- Manually re-try the payment if required
Can I still use my Platinum Debit Card(s) for physical transactions?
Yes. All Point -of Sale (POS) transactions will continue to work as normal.
This includes payments made via Apple Pay and Samsung Pay.
Will my card be removed from Apple Pay and Samsung Pay?
No. Your Platinum Debit Card(s) in Apple Pay and Samsung Pay will not be affected by this system upgrade.
Will this upgrade affect my other cards?
No. This upgrade only affects Maybank Platinum Debit Card(s).
The following cards will not be affected:
- Mastercard credit cards
- Visa credit cards
- Visa debit cards
